Wenger - Vela will get his chance to shine

Arsène Wenger has dropped a heavy hint that Carlos Vela will spearhead Arsenal's Champions League attack this evening.

The Mexican teenager was one of the heroes of the Club's Carling Cup run, marking his full debut with a hat-trick against Sheffield United and netting a superb goal in the following round against Wigan.

Vela has yet to open his account in Europe despite coming off the bench in four Group G matches and starting against Dynamo Kyiv a fortnight ago, but the 19-year-old should get another chance against Porto with Robin van Persie and Emmanuel Adebayor both back in London. Wenger is confident that Vela will deliver.

"Vela is a great player and a great striker," said the Frenchman.

"He is 19 years old and has adapted very well. Every chance he has been given, he has played well, and he will get another chance to show that again [on Wednesday night]."
