Wenger - Beckham's stay will not be a 'circus'

Arsene Wenger will not allow David Beckham's link-up with Arsenal to become a media 'circus'.

The former England captain will be training at London Colney this month as he bids to stay fit ahead of England's international friendly against Switzerland in February.

Wenger has poured cold water on suggestions that Beckham could register to play for Arsenal and insists that the 32-year-old's spell with the Premier League leaders will remain low-key.

"We are helping him to work on his fitness and trying to keep it as quiet as possible," said Wenger.

"He's just come back from a long break and has had injuries. He joined us on January 2nd. He will not be playing in any games and will not be registered. He is just training.

"We don't want to make something complicated out of something that is very simple. He doesn't live far away and always loved Arsenal. That's why we help him.

"It will not become a circus. We are quite well equipped here to handle that here. We have mirror doors and everything that is needed."

Beckham was pictured in an Arsenal training kit, sporting the No 23, during a first-team session on Friday. So had he forgotten his own kit? Wenger cleared that matter up quickly.

"We give a kit to everyone who practices. When a triallist comes from anywhere in the world we give him a kit," said the Frenchman.
