Wenger on a high after weekend title boost
Arsène Wenger believes his players are heading into Wednesday's North London derby on the back of their best week of the season.
Since the international break the wins and goals have flowed for Arsenal with Everton and West Ham dispatched in the Premier League and Fenerbahce well beaten in Europe. A tally of 10 goals in those three games proves that the Gunners have found their range.
What's more, Arsenal's title prospects have been boosted by Chelsea's home defeat against Liverpool and Manchester United's draw at Everton at the weekend. Wenger's side trail Liverpool by four points but are just one behind Chelsea and four clear of United.
The Frenchman could not have asked for much more over the past week but he warns that there are plenty of twists and turns to come as the title race unfolds.
"Overall it has been very good," said Wenger. "We have come back to one point behind Chelsea when everyone thought they were untouchable and that makes it open. Maybe next week Liverpool will drop points.
"It's a very open championship but it's very early, with just nine games played. We are not even halfway through the first half [of the Premier League campaign] so we will have a lot of surprises to come.
"Now we have a big game on Wednesday so let's win it. Arsenal is playing Tottenham at home and that means we want to win the game."
