Wenger - Gallas to keep captain’s armband
William Gallas has been confirmed as the Arsenal captain for next season.
The Frenchman was a surprise choice to take the armband 12 months ago and, overall, had a good campaign in the role. At Friday afternoon’s press conference ahead of the Emirates Cup, Arsène Wenger revealed Gallas will be keeping the job for the coming season.
"If he plays, he will be captain,” said the manager. “If he does not play, it will be somebody else. But William will be the club captain, yes.”
