Wenger - Big targets ensure we look forward

Champions League
Arsenal v AC Milan

The ‘big targets’ Arsenal have set out in front of them will allow Saturday’s defeat at Old Trafford to be forgotten, according to Arsène Wenger.

AC Milan come to Emirates Stadium on Wednesday for the resumption of the Champions League and the Frenchman believes switching focus to that particular obstacle will ensure the FA Cup exit is consigned to history.

The Arsenal manager highlighted the disappointment that resonated with his squad after the weekend exit, but insists that the team’s spirit remains intact.

“Who wouldn't be hurt by a defeat like that?” asked Wenger. “The most important thing for us is to be positive and to visualise how we want to behave and play as a team.

“Sometimes you forget how good you are when you have a big disappointment. We want to be the best as possible, but it was a bad day at the office and that can happen.

“What is most important, is to have big targets in front of you.

“This is such a big game, such a massive task, that we can forget about Saturday."
